Emily Ann Powell

"Thinking about Thinking grew out of the same spirit my grandfather carried in his work: an open invitation to explore ideas together and see what new connections emerge."

— Emily Powell

Emily Powell is an economist, researcher, and creative strategist based in Houston, Texas. With a background in economics and a passion for exploring how people think, create, and grow, she works at the intersection of culture, aesthetics, and personal development.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Applied Economics at the University of Houston, where her studies deepen her understanding of decision-making, human behavior, and systems of value. Alongside her academic path, Emily is building Thinking about Thinking—a platform for dialogue and reflection that blends podcasts, writing, and community engagement.

Much of her inspiration comes from her grandfather and mentor, artist and writer Frank Reed Larkey. Emily is curating and sharing his six decades of paintings and writings, weaving his creative legacy into her own work as a way to honor his influence and invite others into the conversation.

Outside of work, Emily finds balance in long walks with her dog Lulu, sharing chips and queso with friends, and taking time to reflect on the everyday questions that fuel her projects.
